Abstract
728,933. Manure-distributers. CURRIE, J. C. Nov. 12, 1953 [Nov. 18, 1952], No. 29089/52. Class 6 (1). A pulverulent - material spreader comprises a unit attachable to a wheelbarrow, the unit comprising a hopper a with a spring- loaded regulator b controlling the delivery of material, either directly or through a shoot, on to a rotary vaned-disc a which is driven by a polygonal roller e pressed against the wheel f of the wheelbarrow. The unit is mounted on L- shaped members h which carry the axle of the roller e and an axle c<SP>1</SP> of a further roller c which is driven by the roller e and drives the disc d by contact with its undersurface, the disc being pressed on to the roller c by a spring m. Clamps i are hooked over the front of the barrow and springs j are connected between the members h and the barrowlegs to maintain contact between the roller e and the wheel f. The regulator can be opened selectively by a cable s attached to the barrowhandles t. The polygonal roller imparts a jigging motion to the structure which prevents blockage of the material in the hopper-mouth. In a modification the cable s is a Bowden-wire and an adjustable detent is mounted upon the barrow handles t.
