727,834. Endless-chain conveyers. WILD & CO., Ltd., M. B. Jan. 15, 1954 (Jan. 20, 1953], No. 1609/53. Class 78 (1). An endless conveyer for raising bricks, tiles, parcels or other articles from one level to another comprises an endless chain g which is provided with pivotally mounted article-supporting members u and is supported by a hollow metal beam a having a pair of trunnions b detachably engaging bearings c on a structure d housing the conveyer driving unit i. Each carrier u comprises a rectangular plate which is pivoted to a plate w secured to the chain g and provided with flanges v<SP>1</SP> which, during the upper movement of the carrier, rest on flanges v<SP>1</SP> extending from two longitudinal guides v secured to the beam a. Each plate w is formed with flanges w<SP>1</SP> having metal pieces x which cooperate with the flanges v<SP>1</SP> to assist in supporting the carrier in its article-supporting position. After the carriers have left the guides v and passed round the upper conveyer sprocket h, they contact an abutment y and are pivoted so as to lie against the descending run of the chain g and then pass through the interior of the beam a. Adjacent the lower end of the beam they engage another abutment z by which they are turned to their article-supporting position and are retained in such position around the lower sprocket h and during the commencement of their next upward movement along the beam. The beam is formed at its lower end with a handle as by which it may be carried after being detached from the structure d. The conveyer chain is driven from the power unit c through a belt j, passing over pulleys k, and a reduction gear l, the latter being connected to the adjacent sprocket h through a disengageable coupling m. To transmit a drive to the chain g, the belt is tensioned by a roller non a spring-loaded lever o. The drive is interrupted by operating a hand lever r connected by a chain s to the lever o.
