727,709. Reciprocating pumps.' YALE & TOWNE MANUFACTURING CO. Aug. 1, 1953, No. 21417/53. Class 102 (1). In a pump for supplying liquid under pressure to a hydraulic lifting apparatus, a casting forms the reservoir 30 and two pump cylinders 35, 36. Bores 49, 70 from the exterior of the casting lead to the cylinders and are fitted with plugs 52, 71 forming seats for spring loaded ball inlet valves 54, 74 ; the plugs have inlet ports 68, 73 and are surrounded by filter material 69, 75. The plug 52 has a spring loaded piston 60 which engages a cover 58 held in position by a circlip 58a. The cylinders 35, 36 are connected by delivery valves 65, 78 with a delivery passage 64 arranged parallel to the bores 49, 70 and connected to the bore 49 by a passage 80 so that when a predetermined pressure is attained in the passage 64, the piston 60 is moved to prevent the valve 54 from closing thus stopping the delivery from the cylinder 35. The pistons 37, 44 are actuated from a pedal through shaft 42 and lever 41 to which the piston 37 is connected by the link 39 and against which the piston 44 is pressed by a spring 45. A release valve is provided to lower the lifting apparatus.
