A cyclone. furnace has a fuel inlet chamber 14 with a curved peripheral wall 36 and a fuel-air supply conduit 50 having opposite curved walls 56, 58, converging to an inlet 38, one curved wall 58 merging into the peripheral wall 36 whilst the second curved wall 56 is provided with a damper 62 which has a curvature corresponding to that of the wall 56 and which is movable, transversely of the inlet 38, to a position which restricts the inlet and substantially provides a continuation of the curved guide surface of the peripheral wall 36.
