Abstract

725,528. Pneumatic separating. MACHINEFABRIEK BRABANT D. VAN OPSTAL N.V. Sept. 9, 1953, No. 24999/53. Class 117. The heavier portion of the grain fed from hopper 5, through gap 6, into a vertical grading tube 2, of rectangular cross section, falls against a rising air current into the hopper 16 through a gap 3 between the inlet of the grading tube and the outlet of an air pump 4. The lighter portion is carried over into a separator 8, from which the air passes into a transverse duct 11, the material falling to the inclined bottom 15 to be discharged at the gap 14. Complete separation in the chamber 8 is stated to be achieved by making the internal angle between the inlet wall 10, and the bent-in portion 12 of the outer vertical chamber-wall 13, greater than 180 degrees.
