724,728. Machinery guards. DURELL & CO., Ltd., R. April 23, 1953, No. 11275/53. Class 80 (4). A guard for a circular saw comprises a main part I adapted to be suspended above the saw blade by a screwed spindle 2, arms 3 pivoted at 7 on the forward end of the part 1 and interconnected guard plates 9 pivotally mounted on the ends of the arms 3 and adapted to cover the leading edge of the saw blade. The edges 11 of the plates 9 are suitably curved so that the plates are lifted as the workpiece is fed forward to the saw blade. The arms 3 carry a bridgepiece 4, with an adjusting screw 5 engaging guard part 1. The guard plates 9 are also provided with an adjusting screw 13 to limit movement relative to the arms 3. The other end of the guard 1 is provided with a hinged and adjustable cover 15 for the other side of the saw blade and the riving knife. The arms 3 and the cover 15 may be maintained in position by springs.
