Abstract

723,876. Vehicle bodies. SPARSHATT, G. W. Sept. 17, 1952 [Aug. 25, 1951], No. 20081/51. Addition to 682,607. Class 108 (1). The tubular framework as described in the parent Specification is joined by capping members comprising channel-shaped parts 4a having medial ribs 7a to engage and be secured to the smaller tubes 10 and having gussets 13 by which opposed capping members may be secured together. Slots 9 in the channel portions 4b may serve for welding the larger tubes 11 to the capping members. To join axially aligned tubes the parts 4b and gussets 13 are replaced by longitudinal flanges. A split tube may be interposed between the tubular framework and the capping members to grip the framework members on assembly. Specifications 607,318, 607,319 are referred to.
