718,774. Gasifying carbonaceous materials. BADISCHE ANILIN-& SODA-FABRIK. Jan. 2, 1953 [Jan. 5, 1952], No. 121/53. Classes 55 (1) and 55 (2) Fuel, particularly synthesis, gases are produced firstly from gaseous or liquid fuels and then from solid fuels such as lump coal or coke or briquettes by reacting the gaseous &c. fuel with oxygen or oxygen-containing gas in a flame in the presence of finely divided or vaporous compounds of elements of the first or second group of the periodic system or of manganese or the iron group so that carbon monoxide and hydrogen as well as carbon dioxide and steam are formed, the hot gases then being led through a slagging producer charged with the solid fuel. Gasification of the fluid fuels is preferably effected in a separate chamber attached to the bottom of the producer, or the fuels and gasifying agent may be injected bv a burner directly into the producer.
