717,377. Cycle brakes. JUY. L. C. H. July 18, 1952 [Feb. 7, 1952], No. 18258/52. Class 136(1) In a handle-bar operated control for the brakes of bicycles and the like comprising a rockable support 6 for the handle-bar 8, to which support are coupled the brake cables 15, 16, a thrust on the handle-bar producing a rocking movement of the support and a tractional stress on the brake cables, the axis 4 about which the handle-bar is rockable is situated behind the centre of the handle-bar and parallel thereto. A stop 13 is provided on the support 6 to engage the steering stem 1 of the vehicle. A coupling strap 14 is also provided on the support 6 for the attachement of the brake cables 15, 16. The operative length of the lever arms of the handle-bars may be increased by having sliding grips 11, 12. The handlebar support may be carried by a deformable parallelogram-shaped support 22, Fig. 4.
