Abstract

717,099. Mast supports. RUSTON BUCYRUS, Ltd. Sept. 23, 1952, [Nov. 24, 1951.] No. 23816/52. Class 78 (4). An extensible and collapsible mast is supported by four horizontal and inclined braces connected to the mast and frame. As shown in Fig. 1 the foot 12 of the mast is pivotally mounted on a frame i i and has an extensible part 13. A pair of braces 15 are pivoted to the top 14 of section 13. A pair of braces 17 are pivoted at 16 to the top of the mast 12. The braces 17 have spaced connecting plates 18 secured to the ends and to which are pivotally secured the braces 15 and braces 19 and 22 at 2 1 and 24 are detachably bolted to the frame II at 20 and 23. The connecting plates 18 joined by a link 25 comprises plates 26, 27 and a hollow member 32 is pivotally mounted between them. The brace 15 Fig. 4, has a rammed stop means 31 at the end which rests on a cam seat 29 on the brace 17 when the mast is upright. Alternatively, Fig. 8, the end 31 of the brace 15 rests on the extended end of brace 19. To collapse the mast the bolts 20, 23 are removed the part 13 is retracted and the braces 19 and 22 are secured under a member 51 on the mast.
