Abstract

716,999. Chain hoists. MABY & CO. March 28, 1952, No. 8020/52. Class 78(5). Double chain wheel 13 elevates load hook 17, the surplus chainage being wound on to drums 25 driven from the wheel 13 by unidirectional clutches 19-20. Thus the motor drives the double chain wheel 13 through gearing 15-14 and shaft 12, the latter having extensions 18 carrying freely the drums 25. The latter are pressed by springs 26 against ratchet 21 (co-operating with pawls 24) freely mounted on the shaft, which are pressed against collars 19 fixed on the shaft. In hoisting, the motor drives chain wheel 13 which drives the drums 25 to wind on the free chains from along guides 30. In lowering, ratchet 21 is held so that the chain wheel lowers the chains, pulling them off the drums which slip against the ratchets 21.
