716,617. Cutting and windrowing machines. McBAIN, A. Oct. 10, 1952 [July 12, 1951], No. 16527/51. Class 6 (3) The frame 10 of a windrowing attachment for a tractor is pivoted at a point 27 arranged well forward of the frame at the ends of arms 22 extending from brackets 23 adapted to be attached to the tractor axle. The arrangement of the pivot results in a floating action of the frame, this action being assisted in the construction shown by a spring 26. The peas, cereals, or grasses to be cut are fed by a reel 14 to the cutting device 18 and deposited in a windrow by a laterally-moving conveyer 11. The reel and conveyer are driven as shown through the medium of a shaft 12 driven from the power take-off shaft or from the wheel axle, and the knife 18 by a crank connected to a wheel on the conveyer shaft. The frame may be lifted by links 25 connected to hydraulic lift arms 28.
