714,963. Plate heat-exchangers. AIR PREHEATER CORPORATION. May 12, 1952 [June 4, 1951], No. 11989/52. Class 64(3) In a plate heat-exchanger, a pluralty of fin elements 14 are mounted between fluid passage walls 10, 11, each element comprising a metallic strip formed with pairs of marginal tabs 20, 21 extending from. opposite sides of a web portion 18, and each tab being in contact with one orother of the walls 10, 11. In the preferred form, the tabs 20, 21, see Fig. 2, are formed with flanges 22 which are bonded to the walls 10, 11, and the edges 23 of the flanges of one element are in contact with corresponding flanges on an adjacent element on assembly. The web portion 18 of the element may be interrupted to avoid the formation of a laminar boundary layer along its surfaces.
