714,828. Electrolytic production of chlorine dioxide. FARBENFABRIKEN BAYER. Dec. 3, 1952, [Dec. 29, 1951.] No. 30686/52. Addition to 692,763. Class 41. Chlorine dioxide substantially free from chlorine is prepared by electrolysis of an aqueous solution containing a chlorite, e.g. sodium chlorite, and a water-soluble salt of an inorganic oxy-acid other than sulphuric acid; nitrate, nitrite, phosphate, chlorate, perchlorate, carbonate or acetate of sodium may be employed as the latter constituent. The bath may be made up from a salt mixture containing 10-50 per cent of a chlorite and 90-50 per cent of the watersoluble salt of an inorganic oxy-acid.
