Abstract
714,595. Blinds. LISLE, U. L. ORCHARD-. Aug. 11, 1952 [Aug. 10, 1951], No. 18891/51. Class 20 (3) A blind comprises a length of fabric 1, Fig. 1, provided at intervals with rigid cross ribs 2 extending its full width, the blind opposite each rib being folded into a hem-like part 3, Fig. 2, the hem-like parts being continuous with the parts of the blind between successive ribs and each rib consisting of a split partly flattened tube 4 enclosing the appropriate hem-like part of the blind. The tube may be positioned where two lengths of material are joined by being overlapped and stitched together with one, or as shown, two rows 5, 6, of stitches..The edges of the tube adjacent the slot therein may be plane or bent inwardly, in the latter case to facilitate winding-up the blind. In a modification, Fig. 7, in which the s'ot in the tube may be wider, the hem-like part is retained within the rib by means of a round bar 12. In further forms the retaining bar may be flat or elliptical.
