Abstract
711,125. Resilient mounting for furniture. HALL & SON (UPHOLSTERERS), Ltd., R. April 17, 1953 [Oct. 1, 1952], No. 24628/52. Class 52(1) A chair or the like comprises C-shaped frame resiliently supporting a seat and back, the seat being hingedly or otherwise movably mounted on the frame and being resiliently connected with the back so as to permit of downward movement of the rear part of the seat with respect to the back under the weight of the occupant. As shown, the frame comprises bent resilient members 1 interconnected by transverse members 2, 3. The seat frame 9 is hinged at the front to the frame members 1 and at the rear is bent upwardly to abut the lower parts of the back. Resilient coiled springs 10 are provided. The back frame 5 of inverted U-form is fixedly or otherwise mounted on the frame members 1 and has a transverse member 7 carrying a metal plate 8 to which the back coiled springs 6, and also the short coiled springs 12 interconnecting: the seat and back, are secured.
