708,106. Hay loaders. TROCKELS, H. SOERRIES-, and RUBARTH, F. May 22, 1952 [June 25, 1951], No. 12956/52. Class 6 (3). [Also in Group XXX] A machine for gathering root-crop toppings and green fodder comprises rakes 2 mounted on endless chains 4 guided by rollers 5, 6, 7, 8 so that the rakes move laterally parallel with the ground for part of the run and then co-operate with an endless conveyer belt 3 to discharge the raked up material laterally into a cart 15, the rakes 2 and conveyer 3 being driven by gearing operated by a flexible shaft from a tractor power shaft. To prevent sagging, the rakes and the conveyer belt are guided in grooves in the machine frame 1 which is formed as a sledge and carries a guide plate 21 which cuts into the surface of the ground and overlaps the lower part of the conveyer belt. The rakes 2 are resilient and are mounted in bars 9 fixed to the chains 4.
