Abstract

707,223. Cathode-ray tubes. DU MONT LABORATORIES, Inc., A. B. March 21, 1950 [May 6, 1949], No. 7037/50. Class 39(1) In a cathode-ray tube a planar electrode 11 having projections for mounting it on support rods 15, fastening members such as split eyelets 13 being provided on one side of the electrode, has the edges of the electrode, including the edges of the projections, bent back to shield the fastening members. Corona discharges from sharp edges are thereby prevented, the electrode being for instance, the second grid electrode of the electron gun and located adjacent a space across which a high voltage exists. As shown, the edges 17 of apertures in the electrode projections through which the support rods 15 pass are bent inwardly into the upper open ends of the split eyelets 13. The electrode 11 has a central cup-shaped portion 12. Instead of eyelets the fastening members may consist of straps 16, Fig. 4, which grip the cup-shaped portion 12 of the electrode and the support rods 15.
