Abstract
<PICT:0704972/IV(c)/1> Material from a dyebath is heated to a temperature to fix the dye, rolled up and rotated in an atmosphere having the same temperature and vapour pressure as the dye, rotation being continued to ensure uniform distribution. Material 7, Fig. 1, after passage through a dyebath, Fig. 2 (not shown), is conducted between banks of infra-red lamps 24 and under lamps 27 before being wound into a roll 41. The chamber 4 is double-walled and air is drawn from the space between the two walls through a fan and over heating elements before being returned to the chamber 4, the temperature being maintained constant by use of a thermostat which controls the current through the heater. A bath 42 filled with water acts as a trap. The roll of dyed material may be withdrawn from the chamber by opening a door, Fig. 3 (not shown), and wheeling out the trolley 14.
