Abstract

704,488. Stripping cables. PLESSEY CO., Ltd. Nov. 12, 1952 [Nov. 21, 1951], No. 27286/51. Class 36 A cable stripper comprises a guide 1 formed with a channel 2 having a longitudinal slot therein and carrying a clamp plate 4 which supports a knife 7 so that the cutting edge projects through the slot 3. The knife 7 is longitudinally slotted and connected to a threaded rod 8 carrying a nut 9, and placed against plate 4 so that pin 4a carried by the plate passes through the slot in the blade. Plate 5 is loosely secured to plate 4 by screws 11, and the position of the blade 7 adjusted by nut 9, after which screws 11 are tightened. The cable to be stripped is pressed into channel 2 and relative longitudinal movement between the cable and the device causes the cable cover to be slit longitudinally.
