A clamp for securing end to end two tubular scaffolding members or solid bars comprises a channel form body 10, Figs. 1, 4, with a clamping screw 13 and pressure plate 14 adapted to bear against one side of the tubes 17, 18 which are positively secured by means of two removable pins 21 passing through holes in the tubes 17, 18 and through holes 20 of larger diameter than the pins in the clamp sides 19, the arrangement being such that on applying clamping pressure, the ends of the tubes 17, 18 are drawn into tight abutment. The ends of the tubes 17, 18 are initially spaced apart and the pins 21 engage the outer edges of the holes 20 as shown in Fig. 1, so that on tightening the screw 13, the pins 21 are caused to move relative to the sides 19 and, owing to the circular form of the holes 20, are displaced towards one another until the pins engage with the holes as indicated at 28, Fig. 3, when the tube ends are in abutment and the outer edges 27 of the sides are flush with the adjacent side of the tubes 17, 18. A pressure piece may be interposed between the tube ends. Holes 29 in the clamp sides 19 serve to retain the pins 21 when out of use: According to the Provisional Specification the circular holes 20 in the sides 19 are replaced by mutually inclined elongated slots.
