Class 120(2) A roller mounting and loading apparatus for the top rollers of the drawing mechanism in textile machines wherein the rollers are, mounted in . spring loaded bearings carried by a pivoted arm which may occupy operative and inoperative positions, the arm being retained in the operative position by means such as described in Specifications 698.958 and 670,472, is characterized in that a cam mounted in the pivoted roller arm co-operates with a cam-follower operatively associated with a spring oressed member bearing upon a roller arbor whereby operation of the. cam places the spring member in loading or free positions. The front top roller 18 of a four roll drawing mechanism is carried in a hooked member 29. which forms a lower extension of a block 30 fixed within the pivoted arm 19. Pressure is applied to the roller arbor by a member 32 under the influence of a spring 33 compressed between a shoulder 321 and a .cap 34 screwed into a member 31 which is slidable within the block 30. The slidable member 31 carries a pair of dowels 35 which extend through a vertical slot 36 in the block 30 and engage a groove 37 within a cam member 38. A finger piece 381 upon the cam enables the cam to be slid backwards and forwards along the arm 19 so that the dowels 35 may be moved vertically into either of the dwells 371, in the lower of which the spring exerts pressure upon the roller arbor and in the upper of which the roller arbor is free to be removed, Instead of a sliding cam, a rotary cam may be employed. The intermediate and back rollers are retained within bearings 22 by spring devices 25 and pressure is applied to the arbors of the rollers by plungers 26 urged by springs 28' compressed between a shoulder on the plunger and a cap 27 screwed into the bearing block 22 which is slidable in the arm 19 and may be retained in position by a set screw 24. The plungers 26 and 32 may be graduated at their upper ends to indicate the loading pressure.
