699,004. Distributing granular material. PETIT, A. Feb. 19, 1952 [Feb. 22, 1951; March 31, 1951; Feb. 5, 1952], No. 4340/52. Class 18 Relates to machines for broadcasting granular material, such as seeds or manure, having a container 1 for the material opening at its lower part into a transverse distributing shoot 21 swept by a paddle wheel 7. According to the invention, the wheel enters merely with the lower portions of its lower paddle arms into a shoot of U-shaped cross-section open at its lateral ends and at its top. The machine shown is carried by the operator who rotates a side handle 9 to drive a shaft chain-geared at 13 to wheel 7. A crank 16 on the driven shaft operates through a connecting rod 17 an agitator 20, Fig. 2, near the outlet 3 of the container the outlet being controlled by the operator through rod 6 upstanding from a sliding plate 5. The sides of the shoot are provided with resilient lining 22 to lessen the clearance for the paddle arms.
