[Class 6 (i).] In machines in which the material is delivered from a container a by disc-shaped or cup-shaped members d rotatable about vertical axes and disposed below segmental openings e in the bottom of the container, and in which the quantity of material discharged is regulated by a vertically adjustable gate v in the container, means are provided for reciprocating the regulating gate vertically, and wedge-shaped incisions u<1> are made in the bottom edge of the rear wall of the container to facilitate uniform distribution. The cups d extend beyond the rear wall and convey the material to spreaders g, h mounted on a shaft i driven from one of the travelling wheels by enclosed gearing n and a ratchet clutch. The vertical shafts j. carrying the cups are journalled in boxes in the rear wall, and the cups d are driven by worm gearing k and a ratchet clutch driven from the other travelling wheel. The wing-shaped spreaders g, h project on opposite sides of the shaft i and throw the material over the edges of the cups d. They may be arranged obliquely as shown in Fig. 6. Scrapers and deflectors r, s may be provided. The iron regulating plate v covers the rear wall of the container and has extensions w projecting below the wedge-shaped incisions u<1> and into the cups d between the deflectors r and the edges. It is reciprocated by levers x pivoted on pins in perforated brackets a<1> and resting on driven eccentrics disc y. The pivot pins may be adjusted in the brackets a<1> and in the levers x. The upper part of plate v is bent back over the rear wall of the container to act as a guide. Behind the lower part of plate v is a stationary metal plate k<1>.
