Abstract

698,908. Agricultural implements. HOLT, V. H. April 1, 1952 [April 26. 1951], No. 9781/51. Classes 6(i), 6(ii) and 6(iii) Ganged revolving implements, such as weedbreakers, rollers and mowers, are flexibly hitched as by chains to a unitary structure formed of strutted front and rear bars, at least two implements being connected to the front bar and at least one to the rear bar, the structure being mounted on a tractor for lifting and lowering e.g. by hydraulic power means connected to the usual three point suspension. As shown in Fig. 1, front and rear bars 3 4, connected together by a strut 5 with skid 7. form a unitary structure to which a gang of three mowers is coupled by chains 9 connected. to pairs of hooks 8. The structure has an upstanding frame formed by a yoke 11 hinged at 12 to brackets 10 on bar 3 and at 14 to a double link 13 itself hinged at 15 to bar 4. The yoke is hinged at 12, 16 to the standard tractor suspension links 17, 17a for raising and lowering the structure by power means. Supplementary chains 23, connected between either bar 3 or 4 and the mower frame bar 24, serve to shorten the chain suspension of the implements when the structure is lifted. In a modification, three weed-breakers are coupled to bar 3 and two to bar 4. Fig. 2 shows one of the weed-breakers comprising a freely rotatable polygonal bar 25 with hardened inset edges 26.
