Abstract

697,939. Wall panels; carpenter's joints, UNI-SECO. Ltd. Nov. 5, 1951, No. 25881/51. Classes 20(ii), 20(iv) and 87(i) Wall panels, comprising a core of wood wool and cement 1, a peripheral wooden frame 2, and asbestos facing sheets 3, are provided along at least one edge with projections 4 offset from the centre line of the frame, adjacent panels being secured together, in halving joint relation, by screws 5. Cover strips 6 are nailed on each face of the joint. Each flange 4 is chamfered at 8 to provide channels 9 which, in the case of external wall surfaces, can be filled with a sealing compound 10, e.g. mastic. When a panel 11, Fig. 2 is secured e.g. to a door post 15, the joint is formed between. the projection 4 and a fillet 13, the latter being either formed as an integral part of the post or, as a separate piece screwed on to it. The latter type of construction is used when joining panels to uprights of L, T or X cross-section.
