Abstract

696,930. Aircraft rudders. GLIWA, M. Aug. 22, 1951. No. 19772/51. Class 4. A rudder for an aircraft comprises a plate 17 connected to diverging plates 14 in turn connected at their upper and lower edges by end plates 15 fast with a vertical shaft 16. The rudder is mounted at the rear end of a fuselage which has end walls converging parallel to the plates 14 and supporting a bearing block 13 in which the shaft 16 is rotatably mounted. Plates 28 are secured to the fuselage to restrict the entry of air into the space formed between the plates 14 and the panels 11. The shaft 16 carries an extension rod 18 on which is mounted a spring loaded detent 27 arranged to engage with the teeth of a serrated plate 22 fast with the fuselage. The rudder may be mounted at the front end of the fuselage.
