695,860. Pressure-reducing valves. GLEDHILL, E. G. B., and YOUNG, T. N. May 27, 1952. No. 13431/52. Addition to 686.440. Class 135 In the diaphragm-actuated pressure-reducing valve claimed in the parent Specification, the connection between the low-pressure side 5 of the barrier or weir 6 which forms the valve seat, and the control chamber 24 is made through the diaphragm itself. As shown this connection is in the form of a hollow bolt or rivet 14 which holds together a compound diaphragm comprising sheets 7. 8 of rubber or other resilient material separated by a spacer 9. The diaphragm or sheets 7, 8 are clamped peripherally between the valve body 1, a rigid ring 10 and a cover 11 by bolts 12. By suitable choice of the size of the bore of the bolt 14 and the position of the barrier 6 any desired ratio between the pressures on the high and low pressure sides of the valve may be maintained.
