Class 135 A valve has a spring-loaded ball 20 guided by a cage 21 and held off a seating 12 by an apertured member 16 of heat-fusible material, e.g. soft solder, so that in the event of continuous passage through the valve of gases at high temperature the member 16 melts and allows the valve to close. The seating has an annular groove 14 into which some of the material of the fusible member 16 may flow.
