692,735. Cabinet fittings. COLE, Ltd., E. K., and WHITE, J. K. Feb. 13, 1952 [Feb- 13, 1951], No. 3437/51. Class 52(i) [Also in Groups XXXII, XL(b), and XL(c)] An escutcheon of moulded plastic material for the aperture in a panel, more particularly the aperture in the front of the cabinet of a radio or television set and provided for the tuning dial or cathode ray tube has a front flange and an inwardly projecting wall the latter being provided with lugs suitable for engaging clips secured to the back of the panel and adapted to press the flange against the panel. This method of attachment permits the flange to be narrower and avoids the mark on the front face of the escutcheon 2 caused in the prior arrangement (Fig. 1) by the enlarged part 3 to which the clip 4 is screwed, since the lugs 7, Fig. 4, on the new escutcheon need only be small, the screw being screwed into the. cabinet 1. The lugs may be provided in the original moulding or formed by making saw cuts in ribs extending from the front flange Figs. 2 and 3 (not shown). The clips are resilient and reduce the damage which might be caused by implosion of the cathode ray tube.
