Abstract
692,497. Filters. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO., Ltd. Aug. 24, 1951 [Sept. 5, 1950], No. 21864/50. Class 46 [Also in Group XXXIV] In a stationarily mounted turbo-generator plant wherein a branch pipe 3 leads from the lubricating oil feed manifold 1 under the floor 2 to the bearing pedestal 4, a short length of pipe 6 is inserted between the pipe 3 and a gauze filter element 7, the latter being arranged at the entrance to the bearing pedestal 4. The gauze filter 7 which may be conical is readily taken out after removal of the pipe 6. In a modification, a filter box containing a filter element large enough to obviate a large pressure drop is permanently connected between pipe 3 and the pedestal 4, a pressure gauge on the outlet side indicating .clogging of the filter element. The latter is readily removed for cleaning through a cover of the box.
