Abstract

692,012. Combination tools; handles. DARLEY, F. E. Jan. 31, 1952, No. 2584/52. Classes 61 (i) and 61 (iii). A combined screwdriver and tyre inflation valve key comprises a shank 1 formed at one end with a screwdriver blade 2, the other end being slotted transversely at 3 and a central hole 4 being provided in the bottom of the slot to receive the end of the valve spindle. A handle 5 of plastic material e.g. casein, cellulose acetate or acrylic resin is attached by means of protruding wings 6 provided on the shank. The handle comprises a rod of octagonal or other cross section drilled axially to the diameter of the shank 1, softened slightly by heating and forced over the wings 6. Two nicks 8 are formed on the handle, to facilitate a spinning grip between finger and thumb. In a modification the handle is moulded e.g. directly on the shank. In a further modification a metal handle is provided.
