Abstract

691,598. Pistons. BOORN & CO., Ltd., T., and WILDE, H. DE. Feb. 22, 1951 [Feb. 22, 1950], No. 4598/50. Class 122(i) In a pump piston comprising a substantially cylindrical metal core 1 having a flange 2, piston rubbers 4 at the ends of the core and annular blocks 3 of abrasive resisting fabric between the rubbers and the flange, the flange 2 is of appreciably smaller diameter than the working diameter of the piston and the circumference of the flange is surrounded by abrasive resisting fabric. Sealing rings 9 of rubber are bonded to the ends of the blocks 3. The blocks 3 are recessed to receive the flange 2. In a modification the flange 2 is surrounded by a separate ring of fabric and the blocks 3 are less deeply recessed. The rubbers 4 and blocks 3 are retained on the core by washers 5 engaged by rings or clips 7 engaging grooves 8 in the core.
