Class 52(iii) A book-rest for use in bed comprises a book-support with a rear ledge 2 on which the book 14 rests and suspension means 3 at the top of the device secured to the wall or bed above and behind the user's head, lateral stability being provided by adjustable struts 10. The book-support may be an open frame 15 with a transverse band 20 adjustable on the side bars, or a sheet of glass may be used in place of the frame. A lamp 6<SP>1</SP> may be provided and to facilitate page-turning a rubber bead 20<SP>1</SP> may be threaded on the band 20.
