688,946. Contacting gases with liquids. RUBIN, A. Jan. 15, 1951, No. 1082/51. Class 55 (ii) [Also in Group VI] Apparatus for contacting air or other gases with liquids comprises a member which is placed in the liquid and is formed of a base plate 2a and a perforated corrugated metal or other plate 3a, the space between each corrugation and the base plate being stuffed with fibrous material such as felt or other gas-permeable material 4 and provided with a perforated pipe 7 to which the air or other gas is supplied. In a modification the corrugations may be sinuous or there may be only a single corrugation. The upper surface of the perforated plate may be covered with a layer of felt or like material.
