Abstract

1309563 Damping device JOH KLEINEWEFERS SOHNE 21 May 1970 [19 Sept 1969] 24686/70 Heading D1L A device for wetting a length of material, in which the material 1 is passed through the wetting chamber 4 by means of inlet aperture 5 and outlet aperture 6. An ultrasonic oscillator 10 is arranged on the base of the chamber 4, and water to be atomised is fed into the chamber through inlet 12, forming a layer of liquid on the oscillator. The oscillator causes the layer of liquid to vibrate, forming waves on the surface, which break up to form drops as the direction of oscillation changes. These drops form the atomised mist 14 which is drawn onto the lower surface of the material by an air suction device 9. Further embodiments to treat both sides of the material, by turning the material through 180‹ are also described.
