Abstract

687,298. Feeding sheets. KAYE'S ROTAPRINT AGENCY, Ltd. May 7, 1951 [July 5, 1950], No. 16844/50. Class 100 (i). [Also in Group XXIV] Sheet-registering.-Relates to printing machines of the type wherein a sheet-feeding roller 1 is intermittently rotated and is held stationary during each cycle while the sheet is aligned against a lay. According to the invention, the roller 1 is driven by a gear 7 on the axle 8 of the printing roller through a gear 3, secured to the roller 1, and an idle gear 4; part of the toothed periphery of the driving gear 7 is cut away and a cam-like surface 1a is bolted to it to engage a correspondingly-shaped recess 6 in a boss 5 integral with the gear 4. During the portion of the cycle while these surfaces 6 and 10 slide over one another, no drive is transmitted to the gear 3 and roller 1.
