686,504. Securing bearing races to shafts. WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC INTERNATIONAL CO. April 13, 1951 [May 15, 1950], No. 8620/51. Class 80 (ii). [Also in Group XXXV] A dynamo-electric machine has die-cast end brackets 7 to hold the outer races of bearings 8 in which a shaft 5 has a close sliding fit, the shaft 5 being frictionally locked to the inner races 10 by springs 25 and prevented from moving axially by a spring 23. Since the bearings are pressed directly into the end brackets from which they are not intended to be removed, there is no need to use steel inserts to mount and secure the bearing.
