Abstract

685,960. Closets. IDEAL BOILERS & RADIATORS, Ltd. Oct. 12, 1950 [Oct. 14, 1949]. No. 24981/50. Class 26. A sanitary closet comprising a downwardly converging bowl-shaped portion 8 formed with an outlet 10 at the lower end and an extension 7 which is in open communication at one end with, and the bottom of which is elevated above, the bottom of the bowl 8, is flushed by a spiral flow of water through the bowl and a simultaneous flow of water through the extension into the bowl. The water is supplied from a conduit 19 to a chamber 17 in the upper part of the pedestal from where part of it passes into a water delivery trough 9, filled with groups of apertures of various sizes and inclinations such that apertures 26, 26' cause a spiral downward flow in the bowl and apertures 27, 27', 28, 29, 30 cause a diagonal flow along and across the extension 7. The inclinations of the apertures 26<SP>1</SP> and 30 are such that the water from the extension 7 enters the bowl 8 approximately in the direction of the water therein. The remainder of the water supplied from the chamber 17 passes down a passage 22 and through a nozzle 23 where it initiates the now through the siphon 12, the upper part of the partition 25 of which is above the bottom of the extension 7. The extension's internal width is approximately one-half the maximum internal width of the bowl and its internal length approximately twice its internal width.
