[Class 26] Closet or like basins are flushed by a main jet disposed at the side of the well remote from the outlet passage and directed toward the latter, and by a vortex-producing jet below the normal level in the well, water being supplied to the latter jet before the main jet operates. In the form shown in Figs. 2 and 3, a supply passage 22 communicates with a flushing rim 30, having a wide upper portion 30a, and a narrow lower portion 30b. A passage 34 opening into the flushing rim near the entrance to the latter leads to an opening 33 for the vortex-producing jet. Openings 28 in the flushing rim may be so disposed as to aid in producing a vortex, the inlet ends of these openings preferably being of convergent form, while their outlets are flattened. The main jet is produced by a passage 32a fed from the flushing rim, and ending in a flattened opening, opposite the discharge passage 15. The basin walls may be vertical at 11a, and sloping at 11b, while its lowest point 12a is within the discharge passage. A back plate may be slotted at 35 for securing bolts, and a discharge pipe preferably constructed as described in Specification 452,339 is connected at 20.
