Abstract

685,157. Building blocks; beams; lintels. PRECISION BUILDING SYSTEM, Inc. July 10, 1950, No. 17228/50. Classes 20(iv) and 87(i) In a building block 10 having a central vertical hole 22 and formed on its upper and lower faces respectively with a tongue 11 and a corresponding but slightly larger groove 14 and on each end face with a wide shallow recess 19, a peripheral groove 17, 18, 20, is provided centrally of the tongue 11, recesses 19 and groove 14. Vertical or horizontal elongated apertures 23 are also provided. A small groove may be formed at the base of the tongue 11. A corresponding corner block is provided with one groove 18 in a side face instead of the end. In the formation of a wall, or of a lintel or beam from two courses of blocks, metal rods are inserted in the grooves 17, 18, 20, and the holes 22 and are embedded in grout.
