Abstract

684,382. Hydraulic torque converters. REGIE NATIONALE DES USINES RENAULT. March 15, 1951 [July 21, 1950], No. 6297/51. Class 69 (ii). In a torque converter comprising a pump 1, a turbine 3, and a reaction member 5, a rectifying element 8 is provided between the turbine and the reaction member. The pump 1 is connected to a pinion 9 engaging through a pinion 9<SP>1</SP> with a pinion 10 mounted on a shaft 11 to which is keyed a pinion 12 meshing with a pinion 13 which is the sun pinion of a transmission system comprising an annulus 14 connected to the turbine 3 and satellites 15. The satellites are carried by a support 16 connected to the rectifying element 8 so that the latter element turns at a speed proportional to the speed difference between the pump and the turbine and in a direction opposite that of the pump.
