Abstract
681,009. Agricultural implements. KENT, H. C. July 20, 1950 [July 26, 1949], No. 19570/49. Class 6(i) A gapping machine comprises a main frame 1, 2, 3 attachable to the power-lift links of a tractor, and carrying a transverse axle 4 on which is mounted a tube 5 secured to and rotatable by a pair of land-wheels 6. the tube also carrying a bevel-gear 16 on a longitudinal shaft 9 on which are e mounted a gapping disc 10 and a rotary hoe 15. The arrangement of tools is described in Specifications 517,650 and 618,290, and includes a sub - frame 12 pivoted on the tube 5 and carrying the rotary tools 10 and 15, a ground-engaging skid 23, and a plant guard 24. A further sub-frame 13, pivoted to the frame 12, carries disc-tools 14. The frames 12 and 13 are resiliently interconnected by a spring 22, and a compression spring (not shown) also connects the frame 12 to the main frame. More than one sub-frame 12 may be mounted on the axle 4, each such frame having its own wheels 6 and being lifted by a separate lever 17 on the main frame. The main frame is lifted hydraulically by the tractor power-lift.
