In an electric power condenser comprising a plurality of condenser rolls in a pressure oilfilled rectangular metal container, having the foils projecting from opposite ends of the rolls held in thermal contact with the container walls either directly or over a thin insulating layer; the container is surrounded by one or more cooling and reinforcing frames of U-, T-, L- or I-section iron bar so arranged that the outer surfaces of the frames are formed by flanges of the bar parallel with the container walls. Figs. 1, 2, 3 show a condenser container in two halves having side walls 1 and yieldable rectangular end walls 2 which contain condenser rolls 6; a frame of L-angle iron 4 being welded to the side walls at the open ends along the edge of one flange, so that when the two halves are assembled by welding or bolting together the complete container is surrounded by a cooling and reinforcing T-frame whose flange is parallel to the container walls. One terminal of the condenser is connected to the container and the other is led out through an insulator 7. In Figs. 4, 5 (not shown) plural condensers may be assembled in self-supporting stacks using the frame flanges, and their containers may be interconnected or insulated from each other. In Fig. 6 (not shown) a single condenser container is surrounded by two parallel L-section frames welded to the side walls along the edge of one flange.
