Abstract
870,534. Capacitor cooling. WESTING- HOUSE ELECTRIC CORPORATION. Aug. 4, 1959 [Aug. 13, 1958], No. 26516/59. Class 37. Cooling of a capacitor consisting of sections of foil electrodes and sheet dielectric (preferably paper) spirally wound and housed in a can 10, is achieved by the provision of a metal foil 24 round each section insulated from the capacitor foils 16, 18 by insulation 25 and in contact with the insulating lining 12 of the can 10. In another embodiment (Fig. 4, not shown) several alternate layers of foil, and insulation are used. These'arrangements are also stated to reduce the electric stress between the capacitor sections.
