Abstract

Class 135 [Also in Group XXXII] A one-way valve in the piston 13 of a concentric - reservoir type of shock-absorber comprises a thin, i.e. 0.01 to 0.02 inch disc 25 of planished steel, &c. riveted to a fluted guide 28 which is slidable in a bore 22 and urged towards a narrow annular seat 24 of radial width less than 0.02 inch by a compression spring 26, the mean diameter of whose coils is substantially equal to the diameter of the seat. The valve disc may be of a diameter slightly greater, i.e. not more than 20 per cent greater than that of the seat, as shown, or it may be of substantially the same diameter. A thin bleed disc 30, having a notch or notches in its periphery, may be mounted beneath the valve disc. Specification 613,960, [Group XXXII], is referred to.
