Abstract

672,392. Chucks. MUNDORF, H. March 16, 1950 [May 2, 1949], No. 6660/50. Class 83 (iii). In a chuck in which the jaws are moved by screws 8 driven by bevel gears 7 from a common driving ring gear 6, the chuck is divided into two parts 1, 2 in a plane through the axes of the screws and bevel gears, and the screws and associated gears are integral with each other and are disposed in closed recesses in the chuck between ball-bearings 11, 12 at each end. The ring gear 6 is driven by a worm 9. The chuck body has a recess 15 in which a boss 13 on a flange 14 screwed to the lathe spindle engages, the bearing part 16 of the flange lying approximately in the middle of the boss.
