Class 110(ii) A fluid supply system comprises two pumps, each with constant output, and bypassing arrangements to return part of the fluid to source 1 when a pre-determined pressure is reached in the system. Fig. 1 shows two gear pumps 2a, 2c supplying a system 9 in common. When a pre-determined pressure is reached in 9, a valve 10 is forced to close and a piston 16 is lifted by delivery pressure acting through a pipe 17 to allow the delivery from the pump 2c to pass, by way of ports 19, 20, to the suction of the pump 2a. Upon further increases in pressure in the system, bypass valves 12b, 12a open in succession, to return the delivery of pump 2a to source 1. The two pumps may be axially displaced on two shafts in a common casing. In a modified arrangement, Fig. 5 (not shown), the by-passes 12a, 12b are replaced by a single by-pass having a valve which progressively opens under increasing pressures. A third arrangement, Fig. 9, provides for successive short-circuiting of the two pumps. As the piston 21 is forced upwards it opens byepasses 12<SP>1</SP>, 17<SP>1</SP> under successive, increasing pressures. The system may be used for the distribution of lubricant.
