Abstract

A refractory brick comprises a skeleton of silicon carbide embedded in a non-oxidizing ceramic mass of chromite and/or magnesite, and water-glass, preferably acid water glass containing substantially 75 per cent by weight of silica. In an example, the silicon carbide comprises 75 to 80 per cent by weight of the brick.
