658,225. Rope grips. WHITEHOUSE, J. W., and WILD & CO., Ltd., A. G. June 8, 1949, No. 15308. Addition to 624,907. [Class 78 (ii)] In a rope grip as described in the parent Specification the operating lever 4 has two holes 31 and 32 in the head 29 which register, in the jaws clamped and partly open position, with a spring-loaded plunger 33 contained in a housing 36 secured to the jaw 27. In the partly-open position of the jaws 2 and 3 the rope is retained free to run between the jaws, the jaws are opened further to free the rope by further movement of the lever. The movement of the jaw 3 is limited by a guide-bar 19 secured to the hook 5 and embracing the stem 16 of the upper jaw 3. The stem 16 carries a guide rib 18 which projects into a guide slot 17 in the flange 10 and is interrupted for the guide-bar.
